I had not considered what David mentioned about the differences in orientation of the crescent phases of the Moon. Basically, how we see any given phase of the Moon is affected by our location on Earth. The orientation of the crescent will be opposite depending on northern vs. southern hemisphere POV. In David's case, Vancouver's POV (43 degrees N) had the crescent on the right side of the Moon. Someone at 43 degrees S would see the crescent on the opposite (left) side of the Moon. Since Tucson is about 10 degrees south of Vancouver, the orientation of the crescent changed a bit. More info on this phenomenon here:http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/question.php?number=393
