It's a shot I took very recently (a week
ago) in the Bristlecone Pine forest in the Inyo White Mountains at about
elevation 13,000ft. These trees are really old, and are the oldest living
things on earth. Most are over 4,000 years old, and one tree has been dated
at over 7,000 years old. This is, indeed, very old stuff. Hard to imagine
that the oldest tree germinated 2,000 years before the pyramids were built.
Most cool. Taken with a Hasselblad Xpan II, 45mm lens, no filtration. Yes,
that sky is natural. Shot on Velvia 100F.
