Keauhou Ranch is administered by Kamehameha Schools. Sections of the ranch are being restored to native habitat and used for experimental koa plantations. Its upper elevations contain valuable native habitats and numerous highly endangered species. The ungrazed upper eastern corner of the property, sharing boundaries with Kulani Correctional Facility and Pu'u Maka'ala NAR, is one of the most important biological preserves in Hawai'i.
