The Fallen - Colin
by

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

That gets my vote Colin. I also like how IN REMEMBRANCE becomes the focal point even more. Nice

OK, last play around with this one !

I think this works better for me Colin. Then again I have issues with the color red in large amounts......The tone seems a little orange on my end. Did you try it straight B&W? I think it a very nice image.

OK, an attempt at conversion to a monotone. I think this works better....??

It didn't occur to me that this is probably a UK only thing, I have put an explanation in the image notes, but suffice to say this is for real.

I'm little confused here. Didn't see graveyard like this, with this kind of "thumb stones". Is it real graveyard, or you did it somehow, for this shot?
I like the picture anyway.

Yeah, I think your right, all the tones are very similar, it was a very overcast day as well so that didn't help. This may be a candiate for a b&w conversion, I'll have a play and see how it goes.

I quite like the symbolism between the leaves and war casualties. Just i find the overall tone a bit dull, still natural.

The unfocused leaf in the foreground adds a lot, and the crosses in the background give a hint that they go on and on

The unfocused leaf is fallen as well - excellent symbolic overtones. This is a shot with plenty of emotional context.
