My Grandfather, Kristoffer Olesen Helland arrived in Pasqua in 1910 with horses cows and farm equipment from Fingal, North Dakota, He left his cattle and horses in quarantine in Pasqua for two weeks then continued along the Pole Trail to his homestead south of Ardill, SK. I am looking for any pictures of the place at the time (1910) Bill Helland London, Ontario wehelland@rogers.com

Very interesting reading. My mother was born in 1912. She would be around 2 when here mother, Sarah Price became a housekeeper for Jimmie Brenner. She had many fabulous memories of growing up in Pasque and of her childhood friend Jim Foot. The Duncan name often came up so several generations must have lived in Pasque. I have a painting of the grain elevator which I sometimes think should be in the community hall.

I goofed in my last comment, the Duncan's were our neighbors to the West of our store and the Champions(Walter and Marg) were the neighbors to the East.

I am looking for photo of the old red and white store that used to be there, my family took it over from the Bests, our next door neighbors to the East of us were the Duncans - Percy, Jean and their sons Don and Roger, they have all passed on, Roger on March 16 of 2014. Also if anyone has photos of Roger and I when we were kids please let me know or email them to me at jhochban@hotmail.com We were together quite abit back then as we were the same age(I was 19 days older) any help would be greatly appreciated.

During the summer of 1951 , my siblings and I, travelled daily by horse and cart from our farm north-west of Pasqua, in the valley across from north side or Hwy #1, while attending school. At age 72,while visiting Pasqua, I found that I couldn't identify the school, nor the barn that was used to shelter by horse, Bob from the elements. This was a capsule of my life that will never be forgotten. As we all know, things are never the same as we remembered.

When I was a kid born and raised in Regina, I used to travel to the Eberles' (Frank and Kay) farm with my mom. Then, later on, I spent most of my summer holidaze there. I shall never forget those happy times... Ken B.

hi my mother was born in 1922 and is still alive and remembers all so well. My grandparents were Robert and Bernice Short and his father was Thomas Short who were one of the first farmers there answer to some of the questions here on the message board the school was not in Pasqa what it was East of pasqa Soo line Railroad the short family live south of Highway one and highway 69 that went all the way through United States my mom remembers the Duncan family very well and that my grandfather used to go down to the Duncuns machine shop to get his equipment fixed or worked on. I use to spend three months out of the summer and on the farm I remember growing up in past that 3 months out of the year little jello who worked at the little store and gas station there I do rememer jim and jeannie slemmon family in fact jeannie and my mom were best friends those were the best days of my life growing up as a kid when they're on the farm

The photography is great. Pasqua however is NOT a fading community. See the new Pitts home; four years ago Eldstroms also moved in a nice home and currently a home on the east side of the hamlet is being upgraded with siding. Thanks to the efforts of the late Bob McDougal, a Coop Water group was formed bringing water to Pasqua and rural residents in this area. Many residents here take pride in the care and upkeep of their homes and yards.The new Community Club Hall has annual dinner theater with sell-out performances, thanks to the forward thinking of many of its members. A, G scale garden railway is also located on the front lawn of one residence which attracts interest to many new-comers passing through the hamlet.

I used to live in Pasqua in the farm house with the giant TV dish in the yard (I believe it's tore down now). We were right beside the always abandoned house. My old next door neighbours there won the lottery and expanded their farm; they won it again later and continued to expand it.

Hi Folks, I'm Stuart Duncan's dad. The implement dealership was IHC. The gas pump in the photo is from the 50's or late 40's. I pumped gas there in the early 40's the pumps at that time had to be pumped by hand to fill a bowl and then were gravity fed to the automobile. Sad to hear that Don passed. The photos show the dealership sign and pump house. Other building are the old avian club house and a Church that was later converted to a machine shed. The train station lost it`s platform and the grain elevators are gone. Too bad I didn`t take a photo back in the 30`s of the old train water tower across from the IHC and Imperial oil dealership.

Gotta love those pictures. Anything that shows old buldings, and parts of, that are long forgotten are favorites of mine. I had family that farmed the area in the early 1900's. Perhaps some of those pictures are of their old farm.

I have a postcard dated Feb 25/08 this post card is over 100 years old and I would like to find the decendents of the family to whom this belongs.... the post card reads: Tuesday Feb 25/08 Trains are all tied up again so don't know when I will start home but will come as soon as I can. Daddy... Adressed to : Miss Edna Slummon Pasqua Sask The front of the post card has two cartoon bears and the word" Dont say a word" on the front of the card. I can not make out the spelling of the last name...any information will help return this postcard home...

This is Fantastic. aged buildings , signs and landscapes die just as do people but the history that I am proud to be a part of lives forever, Thankyou for showing this to the rest of the world. The people who live there now will have their own history to share. I got my schooling there and married the son of the owner of the grocery store and post office that our family bought.( Best's Red & White.)Many happenings too many to mention. Even Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip spent one night here on their visit to Canada about 1960.

Hi Stuart Duncan, Percy's son Roger currently lives in Moose Jaw, Roger's brother Don passed away a few years ago. When my family sold the farm we move to Pasqua and lived in the house beside your grandpa Harry until my mother took over the store and post office.

Fabulous photos! In the eary 1950s, I travelled by horse and cart with my siblings to school in Pasqua. Could anyone tell me which building served as the school and which building would have been used to house my horse, Bob, each day, while at school? Ray McLennan retired RCAF photographer

found this site. my dad is ken duncan and his father was harry duncan who was james duncan's son. i remeber we used to visit my grandma's when i was a kid (wow - the grasshoppers!) and of course it has been years since i was there. i had an uncle percy who lives there and some cousins and other relatives but they must all be gone now. My grandpa owned the small white house across the street from the grain elevators. My geart grandpa ran the massey ferguson delaership there too.

Wow, Great photos. I was raised in Pasqua. Went to school there until grade 8. My mother ran the general store and post office until 1969 when the post office closed. I was hoping to see a photo of our store(I believe it was torn down in the 70s). Our old house that was moved from the farm to Pasqua is still there and occupied.

Awesome photography! I've been told the IHC dealership in Pasqua was a very busy place with farmers coming from all over the province to purchase their machinery parts here. The station in the photos was moved in from another town. Fading? The hamlet's population continues to grow. (25.5 at last count but I have yet to meet the.5) Take a drive through the hamlet and view the well kept homes and yards. With its closeness to Moose Jaw, Pasqua as a hamlet will likely survive as a pastoral bedroom community.

Your photographs are incredible! I was both delighted and saddened at the same time - your pictures capture the beauty & essence of the prairies and that remarkable pioneer spirit; at the same time it forces one to face the present-day harsh reality that our beautiful prairie towns are being turned into ghost towns. I applaud you for doing something like this - perhaps it will encourage more of us "city folks" to appreciate the plight of the prairie farmers, etc.
