David Crockett (1786-1836)

David (Davy) Crockett was a colorful character. He fought with Jackson and Coffee of Tenn. and served in the US Congress with General John Coffee of Jacksonville, Ga. Coffee died at Jacksonville, Ga. in 1836 and Davy was killed at the Alamo the same year.

The John Coffee under whose command Crpckett served in the Creek War is a different John Coffee from the one with whom he served in Cogress. The two Coffees were first cousins.
