Thanks to this tutorial I was able to finally finish troubleshooting my headphone problems! Turns out it was the faulty cable not the headphones themselves.

Thanks so much for this guide! Another thing, when you pull the screwdriver out from the coil, it may pull out the coil with it. Have a secondary screwdriver to hold it down when removing the screwdriver. It took me awhile to put the coil back in.
