As a self-taught photographer driven by curiosity, my goal is to entice the viewer to look beyond everyday visions and explore the mood, and the emotional world of an image. Very often, there is something unexplainable about a photograph that makes us stop… look…. and sit in amazement. Perhaps it is because we know where it is, or perhaps we are looking at it from a different perspective, a new angle, or in a different source of light.

Photography is a massively important art form that has permeated all levels of modern society. We see photography in newspapers, in magazines, on websites, on our walls, in frames on our desks and dressers, and in art galleries. Whether it's a lucky snapshot or meticulously planned capture, a photograph can captivate human interest and attention so profoundly. A picture is worth a thousand words, it is said. That's not always the truth. A picture can say only a few words and a picture can write a novel. That's all up to the artist behind the shutter.

We don’t always have to travel great distances from our home to see the most amazing images. Many of my favourite photos were taken within a few minutes walking distance of my morning coffee spot. Walk out that door and look straight ahead. It is likely you will see “Eaglebird Humperdink”. The name for our local bald eagle. Most days he sits in a tall cedar directly across keeping watch over the activities below. Or, perhaps it is the fauna that visit your yard on a bright and early morning. How do I know? I see them on my way to photographing sunrises and sunsets. Its all in the way you look at the area around you. We live in an amazing area of the world. Sometimes we just need to see it from a different perspective.

When it comes to people, I strive to capture "real world" candid-style portraits and settings as I feel they better convey personalities and moods. Through this, I hope when our children and families are grown, we are able to treasure the images of them living their lives as memories and emotions, more so than the cookie cutter "Say cheese" style studio portraits.

Browse my images and comment freely. I hope you enjoy your piece of today.
