To the Family of Joseph lovingly known as JAK on our dpreview board, please accept my sincere wishes to all of you in this trying time. I never knew Joe personally but we shared some exchanges on the board centered around our joint love for photography.

RIP JAK. You will be missed.

Hi Joseph, just been looking through some of your galleries. You have so many gorgeous shots, it makes me wish I could travel a whole lot more than I can right now :)

Joseph,
Your "scenic" full landscape photographs are so clear, even in the farthest distance, with excellent depth of field. I am very, very curious to know what exact lens you shoot with on these huge scenes. Is it a Sigma lens?

Joe,

I very much enjoy your locations. Do you travel in a motorhome?

I only recently came across your name when i was looking at (I believe it was on Flickr)
some camera comparison forum. You had posted a comment to someones question. For some reason I copied and pasted your info into note pad for later reference. I AM GLAD I DID!!
You have some very spectacular images. You must be very well traveled. I am just getting back into photography and you have given me some goals and you have set the "bar" very high.
Superb work. Where might I obtain one of your works? Do you do your own printing if so on what? Thank you Don

Joseph,

I am interested in your front and back focus test setup you posted on the canon 5D II forum. Since I am not too mechanically inclined I have a few questions to clarify how I set this up for my own testing. Following are my questions.

1. Where do I focus my "One Shot" focus spot. Do I focus on the "18" on the ruler since that is the center and how the front and back focus in measured? If not on the "18" on the ruler, then where?

2. Assuming I am correct in #1 above (Focus is on the "18") what is the purpose of the design on the small block of wood (the target)and where do I get this design if it is important?

3.I will be using a 5D II and testing a 24-105mm lens. How far from the target should I set my camera to test the lens at 24MM, 50mm, 105mm, etc?

4. I will also be testing a 70-300 DO. How would my test for this lens be different than for my 24-105mm.

These are my questions. Sorry to be so naive on this matter and Thank you in advance for your help.

Do you own a 50d, I ask because beside you and me seem to be the among the few that aren't putting the 50d owners down. There is a lot of anger about that camera. A real same to me since most of us want to hear nice things about our camera's. I have a 50d 40d Nikon d300 and 3 others I use a point and shoot Canon IS870. I have never had a single person tell me that I took a bad picture. I'm talking bout the negative in dpreview. I'm tired of it and don't really understand it.
Thanks for your time and Marx Christmas to you.

Hi Joseph. Stunning photos. Are your animal kingdom photos taken at a zoo or are they wild? Not that it matters as they are great shots but I am just curious as I have a great interest in wild photography.

Hello Joseph,
Very impressive use of that 1DmkII you've got there. Those galleries are full of very nice shots.
How do you generate the frames ? Photoshop or is it a hidden function in pbase that i haven't discovered yet ?
I will come again to see your work and i've added you to my "list of favorite artists".
Cheers,
Philippe

Hi Joe,

Joe,
If I understand correctly, you've taken the pleasures of early morning walks, reading the newspaper while sipping on a nice, freshly brewed cup of coffee without any concerns of the activities within the Honeywell bars/walls.

I just wanted to take a moment, and thank you for sharing your website pictures with me. I have forwarded the link to many who enjoy the beauty our world has to offer. Most of all, thanks for being such a pleasant human being. You made many days a pleasure in the midst of corporate havok. Your smile always brightened the day, but especially our department. I do miss seeing you, even in passing. I wish you the best, and hope your days are filled with pleasure and happy times spent with those you love.

Take Care.
