Sonia and I ( Erik Cooper ) bought Robert Edel's TR6 in 1973, picked it up at the Madison Avenue salon, loaded it with luggage and the cat then drove straight to San Francisco, I think it took 5 days and helped open the salon there. Kept the car for about 6 years in SF and loved it. Both still going strong in Highland Perthshire, Scotland

Hi. I am trying to find a picture of my mother at the Vidal Sassoon Albert Hall show in 1975. Does anyone know if there are any photographs of the show on here? Her photo appeared at the time in the Evening Standard but she never kept a copy of it. If anyone could help me, I know it is vague as there were lots of models in the show but I would love to look through any photos of the Albert Hall show, to see if I can see my beautiful mother. She is still as glamorous. ❤️

Hi,
I worked at Crimpers, Baker Street in the late 80's, early 90's.I can't remember many names but I do remember Michael as he interviewed me.I remember Stewart Bernie, Lawrence, Leon, Oliver, real name David, Jolie, Amanda and Karen. I don't remember a Billy but I remember Willie, he was the colourist who had a few stories to tell! I wish I could remember more names.

Hi Eric Cooper, I was an apprentice at Sassoon in S.F. In the mid 70's when you were a colorist at the salon, it has been at least 35 years plus, and I can't tell you what an inspiration It was to apprentice for you! I so I joyed your talent and wit. Thank you and Peter Wood, Max Papier, Renee,Scott Metzker, Alan Bush, Walter... And on and on who were lucky enough to get it first hand from the master, Vidal himself .., I have loved every minute of this industry and lucky to have been doing the Jon I love for so long !

I was in Birmingham UK in the mid 70s, and used to have my hair cut by a greek guys named \Tony Does any one remember him ?
jade la rosa (louis) 10-Oct-2011 00:03
I was employed sometime in the 70's. so long ago it seems and cannot recall the year. All i know is that it was magical to be there, to have been chosen to be trained.
I auditioned for Henry Abel and Lee Tanaka. I assisted a few people and of course was educated by them all. Brooker was working in our salon on Rodeo DR. Beverly hills. the original upstair from Theodore's via an elevator and then the new building on corner of rodeo and ??? can't recall darn it.Well it's no longer there anyway. Looking back It was incredible..we did not really know what we all were a aprt of...We were a part of history never to be repeated by ...ANYONE. Those cuts are a thing of beauty and no HD photogrphy.I wont forget Janice Bueller in the men's dept.
Erik Cooper 06-Aug-2011 23:03
I would like to get in touch with Seymour, I apprenticed with him around 1965 and he arranged an interview at Sassoon for me in the late 60's. This took me to New York and SanFrancisco 1971 - 1979 changing my life and giving me the opportunity to work as a colourist with the great names of hairdressing
Seymour Myers 31-May-2011 13:58
I grew up with Robert in the East End of London and he was the guy who suggested that I went into hardressing as a profession. Andre Bernard led to Vidal and I had just three months to learn the Vidal way and then went to open the first school in Knightbridge with Robertand jayson as the Principal and myself as Head teacher, the first of many of a great team. Robert looked after me and I owe him a great deal. Seymour Myers

actually, I just found this new item from Honolulu 2002:

"Peter Hartley has been hired at the Paul Brown Salon and Day Spa at Ward Centre as senior color and cut technician. Most recently working in San Francisco, Hartley has trained color technicians for Vidal Sassoon in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Los Angeles for the past 20 years."
robert naugle 23-Feb-2011 21:18
I shared a home in Honolulu with Peter and Elisabeth Hartley circa (1972-75) and then lost track of them after they migrated to Sassoon San Fransisco; if any knows of their whereabouts or has a contact email for them please pass mine (robert.naugle1@verizon.net) onto one or the other or both.

jayfray 23-Jun-2009 08:35
Hi my name is jayfray I am a colorist from CA. Last month I changed my carrier; I decided to be an instructor at Bellus Academy in San Diego, CA. I naturally want to bring a personal to the education structure. The Academy teaches Sassoon and uses Wella KP. Which are a great foundation. What see in the student is a lack of culture, salon culture. I have begun researching salon/hair culture starting with Sassoon, of course. In my research I am discovering people like Micheal Strum and Roger Thompson, I apologize for my ignorance, I did know know of them.
I would like to know more of their carriers and others who came from Sassoon in the 60's and 70's. Does anyone know a good source?
Thank you jayfray

Hi John,
My late husband was Michael Strum, when we first met he was working in Crimpers in Baker St. I was just starting out as a model and had a flat in Crawford St off Baker St. Lawrence Falk owned Crimpers and so many stars came in to have their hair done. I remember going to see Hair and all the dancers at the end calling Michael up on stage and we were up there dancing. Lovely mad memories!!
