My new UPS power backup has been on the job since Sunday. CyberPower has an app called PowerPanel which monitors the backup. I have been monitoring it for a few days and found it to be informative. One thing I found interesting is the UPS load varies from 35 to 115 watts. You can open task manager and look at the Power Usage column to see what apps might be using the most juice. Mine stays about 40 to 60 for the most part. One thing that does increase the usage is shutting down Lightroom. That brings it up to 115 or so. Because all of my drives, internal and external, are solid state, I don't expect there to be much of a draw when writing or reading to them.

My old UPS didn't last very long when the power went out. That is a test you can do by simply unplugging it. So I decided to give the new one a test. First thing I did was shut down all the apps. I wanted to see what the base case was. Then I unplugged the UPS and just watched. After about 10 minutes the capacity was at 83% and it was saying I had 77 minutes left. In the real world of an actual power failure I would shut everything down realizing that Lightroom takes five minutes or so. Bottom line, I am happy with my new toy. I have the same brand powering my router, modem and splitter.
