Every once in a while something goes astray with my laptop computer. You know that the Windows 11 operating system is very complex. There are tons of doo-dahs to turn on and off through the settings app and many other places. There must be at least five hundred electronic switches. Heck it is nearly impossible to find the one I need to twiddle and twiddling always leaves you open for some collateral damage. I google stuff but seldom find the answer I am seeking. I have vowed not to do any messing with the registry because that strikes me as a recipe for disaster.
So last night the function keys seemed to lose their collective minds. I just wanted to turn the speaker off but the F5 button wasn't working. I found the speaker icon in the task bar and used it. But it was still bugging me the functions weren't working. Finally I noticed that the little indicator light on the fn button was illuminated. I don't remember ever having a "fn lock" on a computer, but there it was in full view. I unlocked the fn button and all returned to normal. It is easy to screw things up by fat fingering the keyboard.
I am using a really very old Dell Tower computer with Windows 7.
It works a lot but Microsoft keep sabotaging little things all the time
I was thinking of getting a new laptop with Windows 11
After reading this I am not getting a new computer
I will see if I can make my Dell last as long as me
