We visited Anakena Beach on the east end of Easter Island. The Ahu Nau Nau is located there. It was interesting because the backs of the moai show what is believed to be tattooing of the honored person.

Anakena Beach is where Hotu Matuꞌa, the legendary first settler of Easter Island, was believed to land on his migration from points west in Polynesia, probably the Marquesas. This was supposed to be between 300 and 800 AD, depending on who you ask. One thing new to me was that other groups of Polynesians, over hundreds of years, also came to Easter island

These are full size, about 30-40 feet tall and weighing tons. The red top knots are about 5 feet in diameter.

John these look quite small.
Are they half size, or is there a lot of them below ground
