This little known town is blessed with a hidden treasure --a stunning blue lagoon nestled within a mountainside and protectively covered by a forest. Its dark tinge comes from the Pacific sea pouring in from a deep underwater crevice. To local folks, it is said to be enchanted. Full of rich marine fishes swimming in the deep blue, no one is said to have ever caught one. Once you take a dip in the cool, clear waters, you don't want to come out.

Hinatuan can be reached by land from Davao in an estimated 7 hours, or via Bislig City in less than 2 hours. Buses ply the routes too. We thank Surigao del Sur�s Provincial Administrator Johnny Pimentel and wife Liles for the invitation again, Provincial Tourism Officer Ms. Lala Ambray and staff for the marvelous accommodation, and our tour guide/designated driver Jun Tumbokon for the amazing road trip we had over Surigao del Sur�s coastal areas and magnificent places.

weve been here last year2012 of May. truly the river is so awesome and magnificent for swimming and diving. it's clear-blue water is indeed refreshing best for the hot summer comes . i love the tranquil place and i shall be returning any time so soon. i'm just from the nearby province and it's just an hours ride...

Maganda sana kaya lang delikado pumunta. Lalo na kung dadaan ka sa Bislig. Papunta sana kami from Caraga Davao Oriental ng mapqnsin ko yung riding in tandem na ilang beses na nagiintay sa amin nung nasa bulubunduking area na kami. Kaya magingat lang kayo.

Hi Benj, I am not sure how many hours it will take from Surigao City because I have only traveled from Davao to Bislig then Hinatuan and the rest of Surigao del Sur. My travel from Davao to Surigao City in Surigao del Norte took around 7 hours. Hinatuan is just less than an hour away from Bislig, though. Thanks for asking.

the site looks much better now because of the improvements that has been done and a doll house has been added as one of the attractions and you can go there by a boat ride because its just a distance away., amazing!

Hello Emz, this is Jojie. Tinuyan Falls in Bislig City is an hour away from Hinatuan River, which is in another municipality in Surigao del Sur. Best option is to stay overnight in Bislig City which has around 10 hotels and lodging inns to choose from. Thank you for viewing my photo gallery.

Sir take a bus from surigao to butuan then take again another bus bound for bislig drop at Hinatuan bus terminal and try to negotiate for a habal-habal going to Enchanted River. Hometel and lodging houses are now available at poblacion Hinatuan. Sibadan fish cage and Sandbar are open also for a night or two. A new resorts at Pangasinan Island just a few hundred meters from Sibadan are now also open for business...

tripadora my advise is for you have to establish contact first to the enchanted river management before going to laguna de azul. if you disembark at the crossing chances are you cannot take a ride on a habal2 instant hence you should disembark at the Hinatuan bus terminal instead for you to get a motorcycle (habal2)easily to the enchanted river (laguna de azul)..

latest info disclosed that an endangered "agila" can be seen in pangasinan facing sibadan fish cage. the agila is said to be nesting in a big tall tree in the middle of the island, this one is also worth watching...

just a little wider pero hindi masyadong malaki...it can accommodate no more than 300 persons at one time (the whole area) but they can go to the fish cages out to the sea if the group cannot be accommodated in the enchanted river.. these fish cages allows a night out with a videoke for fun and simple leisure.

what is amazing however is a story that no fisherman has ever caught a fish in the enchanted river using a fishing rod or by way of a dynamite. and mind you its a natural aquarium with big fish in it...

Fish called Sibad abound there by a huge number, thats why its called Sibadan. You will enjoy feeding the Sibad and other kind of fish there and take a pic with the PAWIKAN that is already a friend of everybody..The pawikan is due for release anytime as Mr. Barrios have said considering this is a protected marine specie. The text and photos that you have taken with painstaking effort of the place are certainly beautiful and professional so to speak evoking poignant memories to one who has not visited Hinatuan for the last twenty-five years. I wish to clarify some points though for purposes of historical record. The song Enchanted River of Rio Encantado, melody and lyrics, was not created by one Francisco Rivera per your article, but by one Mr. Modesto Farolan, then General Manager, Port Lamon Lumber Company, a flourishing logging and sawmill firm owned by Don Vicente Madrigal, exporting round timber and sawed lumber in the international market during pre-war days. The employees of Port Lamon known as the “Madrigalistas” come in droves to picnic in the Enchanted River during off days and even in the night when there is moonlight – shouting, giggling, singing, eating and drinking in wild abandon, thus disturbing the magic spell of silence and enchantment of the place. I believe these are the very people that devastate the natural beauty of Enchanted River and not the employees of Philippine Paper Industry Company (PICOP) located in Bislig City which is so many miles away. Yes!!! i was there when i was in elementary. That place is so mysterious place for me. The water is so cold and there are different colors of fishes. At first, when you look down in the cave u could not imagine that you can swim so deep. So, i try to swim so deep hehehehe. that is my first time to swim there so deep. i promise my self to go back there and explore the beauty of nature like enchanted river..........

Reaching Hinatuan maybe done two way, from Davao or Butuan. From there one may take a bus bound for Mangagoy, Bislig or rent a van to get into Hinatuan. From Hinatuan one may hire a habal-habal going to Enchanted River in Talisay. Fare from Butuan to Hinatuan is about P200 while from Davao to Hinatuan via San Francisco dropping at Barobo and wait a bus from Butuan going to Mangagoy is about P400. This info is for those who wish to visit and see the beauty of Enchanted River...Come Now..

For those who want to visit the Enchanted River, from Manila or Cebu take a plane or boat for Butuan or Davao, then take a bus going to Mangagoy. Guests from Butuan may drop at the junction going to Brgy. Dugmanon before reaching Hinatuan proper and take a habal-habal for enchanted river (or rent a van in Butuan). For visitors coming from Davao take a bus going for Mangagoy (Bislig) via Trento and upon reaching Mangagoy rent a van going to the enchanted river or one may drop again at the junction going to Dugmanon if one takes a bus going to Butuan from Mangagoy. Fare from Butuan is around P200 for Hinatuan and Davao to Mangagoy maybe at P300 more or less. Van rental varies. Homestay is already in the offing thru LGU initiative. One may also contact directly the tourism office of the lgu if one needs assistance..

we drop-by enchanted river from tinuy-an falls last december 28,2010, all i can say is that You are swimming with the colorful fishes. hehehehe...it's like an aquarium. Too bad i was not able to witness the feeding time for the fish. People are not allowed to swim during the feeding. You will just watch and be amazed of the fish and wonder where they came from and for sure your camera will be busy during the feeding time. =_) 10 pesos intrance for a beautiful creation of God. hehehe..you must visit here.

me and my cousin aiko went there in hinatuan last saturday march 27,2010 to watch the amazing river called enchanted river we where so overwhei shall return therelm when we get there.the view is very nice and beautifullllllllly...i was taking picture every minute coz i can't resist the best nature in mindanao...thanks to you maam jojie for posting the echanted river in the net.by the way i'm from lanuza......

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter - day saints, We have an activity to the river last January 30, 2010. I am from Luzon but I haven't seen a river of such natural beauty. What a peaceful feeling as you dip yourself in that cool water of the enchanted river. Try to visit the place and enjoy the preserved beauty of nature. WE SHALL RETURN.

we went there yesterday(dec.23,2009) and the water is really amazing.bumpy ride will be worth it once you reach the place.we'll go back there in summer 2010.try also see the tinuy-an falls, the most beautiful waterfalls in the phils. according to the dept of tourism.its also located in bislig city,almost 40 kms away from this enchanted river.

hello nga pala sa mga tao dito na site... siya nga pala ako nga pala si kent na taga gensan city pumunta lang talaga diyan sa enchanted river para matingnan ko naman kong gaano ka ganda at ng makapunta kami with my co riders XP riders team naks napakaganda talaga very blue water... sinubukan ko ngang mag dive kong gaano talaga ka deep pero hindi talaga maabot joke... pero yun daw sabi nila malalim talaga makita mo naman kong nandiyan ka na talaga sa actual... punta kayo mga people para me experince niyo naman kong gaano ka ganda at adventure puntahan ang enchanted river....see yeah...

hello there musta mo. namiss nako na nga place kay nakasuroy ko dha sa hinatuan river. May babaye nga natangag sa buaya. 3 days after one of her arms amputated nabalik sa daplin sa suba. grabe ka hadlok kay basin magpadaplin diay ta. may kalit mopaak ug dalhun ta sa lawom. patay!!!! Nag work man ko sa PIcop yr 80 86. Gusto ko makabalik unta diha nga dapit. Ug gani nakabalita ko nga may senador mibisita kay mitan aw sa 50 ft. nga buaya. Its said to be the longest crocodile in the world. Sen. Herera ang mianha.Daghan kog nasuroyan kay employee ko sa picop, project officer sa falcata logs supply.

I was there last AUG30 with my friends after the Fiesta of Hinatuan.(My boss Daryl hails from HINATUAN).I was mesmerized and amazed by the enchanted river.wow!!super ganda ng lugar.given a chance again i will visit again this magnificent and enchanting place that GOD has given to us this gift of nature.i wish it would be preserved and the next generations will experienced to swim in the blue lagoon.

Its one of the best in Hinatuan but sad to say that roads going there is a big risk especially when it rains. Its a tourism site and the local government must have the courage to improve in anyway. Its a way to invite investors and have a developed HINATUAN.

I was mesmerized by the water. It reminds me of my father's kapehan in Maragusan. I wish I could visit Maragusan again, I want to take a picture of Kalaw birds and some flora and fauna. But this water really .. wow ! enchanting
