Underground Lake

Wieliczka, Poland

The Erazm Barącz Chamber is located at 100m below ground. It was created in a block of green salt and was worked for 20 years since 1846.
The salt lake is 9m deep and filled with brine, a saturated solution of salt. They say its water is even saltier than the Dead Sea.

Erazm Baracz was an engineer and miner working in Wieliczka mine, he was also a director of the mine in 1917-1918.
