Gaudi´s Arches
The architect was particularly fond of Catenary Arches as structural elements. He named them balanced arches because their shape, like a chain hung from its two ends and viewed upside down, allowed loads to be equally distributed, transforming the arch into a resistant structure that didn´t require other support elements than Romanesque and Gothic arches needed. Moreove the meterial was brick, which means that construction was simple and inexpensive.
