The flowering peach tree (Prunus persica) is considered one of the most attractive landscape plants. The tree's different varieties have flowers in shades of pink, from pale pink to almost red. Some weeping varieties also are available. The flowering peach tree, like other spring-flowering trees, blooms on wood produced the previous year. Winter pruning would remove its flower buds. Pruning a flowering peach tree immediately after it blooms, however, gives the tree the maximum amount of time to produce new flowering wood.
