In 1875 the counts of Rocabertí renovated the medieval military castle into a chateau in the French fashion and style of the time. Next to the new palace they decided to make a park, for this they have some adjacent land known as “lo Bosch del Comte”, different orchards and fields of fruit trees that they exchange for land and haystacks to small landowners in the town. In Duvillers' project we find 158 varieties of plants and trees, an exaggerated number that Duvillers proposes in his descriptions and that do not respond to the reality of the full and empty spaces of the plans. There are up to 61 different areas, including the avenue of orange trees, a labyrinth, the cricket game, a gym, a kiosk, the gardeners' house or the Grotto... Not everything was built, or planted, already in origin . Some of the spaces and botanical varieties have been lost due to the vagaries of time and other elements have also been added due to the needs and desires of the new owners, such as the lake (Marqués de la Torre 1909) or the Auditorium of the International Music Festival .
