10D_Dynamic_Range

The grey rectangles in these cards represent steps of 1/3 stop. The middle row was shot with no exposure compensation (exposed for a grey card next to the wedge, which was the same as "M" or 7. The top row is the same, except that the card was exposed by two stops less, and pushed back in the RAW converter. In effect, it is exposed for rectangle 13 as medium grey. I pushed it back so it wouldn't be too dark to see the noise. The bottom row is just the opposite, over-exposed by 2 stops, and pulled down so in effect, rectangle 1 is medium grey, to show the extra highlights in the Canon 10D RAW file which would clip with normal contrast in the output file. The numbers in the rectangle represent the adjusted numbers based on the middle row. No noise reduction was used other than the defaults for Capture One RAW converter. No tweaking of individual rectangle levels was done. Rectangle "M" (7) was merely "developed" for 127,127,127 in the RAW converter.
