Demonstration of the fact that bayer CFA cameras that seem to have low chroma noise compared to others is due to nothing but software noise reduction. The 100% crop on the left is the Nikon D2X at ISO 1600, from the camera's JPEG embedded in the RAW file. Chromatic noise is almost absent. The crop on the right is a simple, homogenous RAW conversion not tailored to hiding noise; the noise is strong, chromatic, and the image has no real black areas.
