George Bush Art

Minneapolis Inst of the Arts had a gallery open for political art. Many of the images shown here represent posters on display until election day 2004. I did not make the posters. Most are anti-Bush. As I add more you will see some of the (few) pro- George Bush ones. I have a few photos of other political activity mixed in with the posters. George W. Bush, George Bush, Dubya.

[UPDATE: FEB 9, 2006]. I am pleased to see the support of the PBase community to allow these "cartoons", some of which I admit are in poor taste, to be prominently displayed on this site. The PBase community represents the world community well with its support of freedom of expression.

I posted the first 16 of these images more than 1 year ago, before the last presidential election. I don't know why they suddenly appeared at the top of the popular galleries, but I am pleased about it. Not for my artistic expression as a photographer (the art is the work of others; I took snapshots of it), but for the freedom of expression these images represent.

The Iraq war has been good for Iraqi's. THEY ARE FREE now. If it takes another 3000 more dead american soldiers then bring it on, for FREEDOM! It's made the world a better place for all us FREE people. Thankyou George Bush for fixing Iraq. You can see how much the Iraqi's are thankful for our great work, they love us like we love you! What's all this bullshit about global warming anyway, I aint giving up my humvee for commies!!! (but Chinaman commies are good because they make cheap shit for our great American corporations)

Bush and his administration must go! Americans should be more concerned about the future of our nation. The constitution has been trampled on and our nation is headed towards a FACIST State! Let's hope the Democrats can put the nation back on track!

Yeah...people HAVE died for the right of free speech...A LONG LONG LONG TIME AGO...with The Bush crew people are dying for oil,The Bush Ego,political advantage,revenge...So ANY criticism of this sort of art on the bogus notion that,by implication,people TODAY are dying in the Bush war for ANY freedom is just nonsense..

To Jason and Jorient: Taste or sophistication isn't the issue. Point of view is. So is freedom of speech. Regardless of how one feels about these pictures, remember that people have died for the right to express themselves this way.

Jason, you are right. Most are tasteless and were obviously created by individuals who do not understand politics at all. That is why our forefathers who founded this country did not want common vulgar citizens involved in the governance of this nation. Thus, we are a representative republic, not a true democracy to avoid people without a clue have any influence. Unfortunately, California is a state run as a true democracy and you can see how screwed up it is.

Apart from the political message, I think it's ridiculous that these posters were in an art museum. Most of these could have been made by any ten year old in photoshop.
