I rode a bus from Minnesota to DC to attend the United for Peace and Justice anti-war protest and rally that was held on September 24, 2005. The Minnesota contingent that left from our location was comprised of 8 large chartered buses, each of which holds about 50 persons. The Anti-War Committee and WAMM had 4 buses, the Democrats had one bus, and I was on one of the 3 buses from St Joan of Arc, a catholic church. The bus I was on was filled with citizens from all walks of life. The persons wearing red berets in the images are persons from the church buses.

Somehow I don't think profanity and stupid behavior will improve America.I just have to ask, if people find Bush so stupid how do they redeem themselves by acting stupid as well? This isn't a flame, this is just the voice of someone who is fed up with all the whining and the immaturity, as is excessively depicting in many of these photos. Its ok to be upset, but this kind of behavior is obscene and uncalled for. I say, stop whining, stop acting like 2 year olds, and people should just vote him out when the elctions come around, like civilized people. Otherwise, they're being no better than he is as far as impeding on peoples well beings.

theres no point voicing ones hollow and jaded opinions. these people are real and this rally is real. they really believe in something and they are demonstrating it. this is a free country and one can express themselves. when's the last time bush(iraq war's)supporters came out chanting slogans for their hero... what are we to tell the mothers, daughters, wives, husbands who've lost loved ones. what did they die for and when are we going to achieve that????? don't go after the photographer who had the courage to show the rally.

Rewrite history? The loudest and strongest criticism of Bush's foreign policy comes from devoted Republicans. True patriots act for the interest of their country and not simply for political gain. I could take a poll that would say 80% of the people believe that these demonstrators are whacked out freaks with nothing better to do then dress up like idiot, write obscenities on themselves and believe anything their far left wing leaders spew out of their air holes. The Catholic Church made bus seats available to anyone who wanted to promote peace. I am not a member and I don't represent the Catholic Church. I don't censor or present one viewpoint (see my other galleries). I documented the scenes that I did to let the world experience a range of behavior at a rally that wasn't covered much by corporate media. As you noted, I saw many angry youth. I believe their reactions are a response, in part, to a government that doesn't listen to the will of its people. It's a government that teaches shock and awe, ignores international treaties, promotes cronism, and treats its critics with contempt. They see a system that doesn't work and they are seeking ways to gain attention for their cause. Despite this anger, everyone I observed acted in a peaceful manner.

Bruce Landry: The religion of Islam has over 1 billion practioners and it is the world's fastest growing religion. To make statements such as "they hate us anyway" is quite naive. World media are playing videos of US soldiers burning Afghani fighters' bodies that are pointed toward Mecca. At the same time, US psychological ops were broadcasting through speakers into the countryside that surviving fighters who didn't retrieve the bodies are wimps. If a fraction of one percent of practicing Muslims are offended by these actions enough to take up arms against the US, the numbers would excede the number of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They don't hate us for our freedoms; they hate us for our policies. Remember how upset US citizens were when US mercenaries' bodies were burned on a bridge in Fallujah?

Who really cares what the rest of the world thinks of the US. It does not matter what we do they would hate us anyway. The amount of financial aid we distribute around the world is staggering and they still hate us. The Muslim extremists will always hate us, it’s just in their blood so it really leaves us no choice. Oh and it’s the media that claims Bush is the least intelligent president ever and I don’t believe much of anything the media claims.

Bush's decisions are responsible for higher gas and heating prices, quagmire in Iraq, and an increased budget deficit. All of these problems are related to the "war president's" poor decisions and leadership.

After combining the mp3's, the shorts on T-r-u-t-h-o-u-t.org and the blog I really feel as if I had a sense of what it was to be there. Your pictures are poignant and powerful. No matter what the subject when I blow them up I see human emotion and amazing visual content. Love, Love, Love your work. Keep it up. I believe that topical images are the most interesting to view.
