The road that takes you to this location is a secondary one, and is an exciting drive. Longer vehicles are not allowed in this section.

The theme of Mesa Verde is the lives of the Native American people who used to live in the area. All of the historical artifacts are from their lives. Step House is a massive cliff dwelling.

There seem to have been a lot of forest fires, both wild and uncontrolled, and planned, that have taken place in these parts. You see signs by the roadsides within the park that talk about these fires.
