Orchard ermine moth (Yponomeuta padella), #2421

Green's Creek

Found this small (10mm) moth sheltering from the rain under an elm leaf. As a caterpillar, its preferred host trees are serviceberry, hawthorn, cherry. This species belongs to a small group of moths called Ermine and Needleminer Moths.
