Xylophagid Fly (Coenomyia ferruginea)

Reveler Conservation Area

This fly is a whopper at about one inch in length and hefty bodied. it is also very beautiful. I noticed it sitting on a leaf close to the ground as I was making my way through the woods. Amazingly, it sat still for the entire time I tried to get shots of it. It belongs to the Xylophagidae family of flies.
