Soldier beetle (Rhagonycha fulva)

Ottawa East

This beetle has been feeding on milkweed flowers... it has the sticky yellow milkweed pollen pads attached to its feet. Beetles are good pollinators, and this one is helping pollinate milkweeds.

An excellent illustration of a key natural process. (Looks awkward for the beetle, though.)

those pollen pads might prove useful in polishing its shiny thorax...dazzling shot..

Good job to help out the milkweed - needed by Monarch butterflies. Neat photo with those sticky feet.

Excellent sharp shot of this big beetle seemingly gathering some supplies.
