Laryl --
I worked for CBC TV in the 70's, and we chartered the Norsal for an episode in 1972. What a grand old dame she was! In the lata 70's, or early 80's, she burned to the waterline in British Columbia. Vancouver harbour, I believe. Cheers!

Laryl,

As I mentioned to your class when you visited us, the Motor Transport Museums' web site has a "Visiting Photographers" page. This page displays photos sent to us by many of the photographers who frequently visit our museum. The museum has initiated several photo contests and a free photo gallery for our visiting photographers. We would like you to join in this exciting new adventure of photo displays and contests which in return will benefit both you and our museum.

Participation is 100% FREE and will help your photographic skills to be known to a large and growing public which are viewing our web site. Our web site got over 12,000 hits last year. Your participation also benefits us by gaining more potential visitors to our museum. In the ill state of today's economy, more and more museums are having to close their doors. As a Non Profit entity our museum is sustained mainly through the donations we obtain through our visitors. Without these donations, we would have to charge people to come to our museum and since our beginnings, it has been our intent never to do so.

Your gallery on our site could be a great asset to you if photography is your business and an ideal way to display some of your work to your friends and prospective customers. Various customizations can be utilized to add to your galleries appeal. As well, you may add or subtract from the photos of the museum which are displayed. You retain ownership and copyrights to any of the photos that we receive from you. The gallery is Internet secure (no one can access or download any of your photos) and watermark copyrights are displayed of your name on each photo. Best of all, we do the dirty work.

Our Museum also holds a "Monthly Calendar Photo Contest" by which the museum visitors decide the monthly winners. Winners of the contest receive a "Top of Page" winner of the month display. The 12 wining photos of the year are used for our museum calendars which are used to generate funding to keep our doors open.

We also offer a "Quarterly Theme Contest" which is based around photos taken of specified themes. Themes are specified on the web site and winners receive prizes and recognition for their work.

I hope you will take advantage of our offer and visit us often for more photo opt's. Please spred the word to any other photographers you may know. By the way, thank you for posting your photos in the way as was requested by the agreement you signed at the museum! I have found several of your classmates that did not do so...

Visit our web site at www.motortransportmuseum.org for more info...

Your "strange but cool" comment on my PAD image prompted me to click on your name...what an unexpected treat! I was hit with an acute case of ADD - click here, click there, oh look at that, wonderful, what's that?, oh look, wow! Everywhere I looked, I saw creative, clever, skillful, enthusiastic, artistic, fun, surprising, beautiful images. Bravo!!!

Thanks for looking at my gallery Laryl. I gather you are from the Yuma area! People don't realize the variety of bird's we have in Arizona. Enjoyed cruising your galleries. We have some Yellowheaded Blackbirds at rainbow lake near Show Low, Az. Been trying to lure them off those reeds in the lake for a long time, someday I will get them! Sam Wilson

Laryl, thanks for visiting my Tucson galleries. I too love Tucson, enough that I'm moving there, as soon as my house sells here in Alaska. Also, my camera has a mind of it's own, it determines the date, not me, I've given up trying to change it.

having explored your other sites, I have added you to my favorites. Wonderful compositions. Consistently top notch.

Did you actually shoot the Kaleidascope images through a series of mirrors, or is it all PhotoShop afterward? Either way, I love the series.

Thanks again,

You have a good eye Laryl ... especially for 'looking beyond' ... a respected professional Canadian photographer named Freeman Patterson wrote a book about this entitled: "We Look but we don't See" ... it's been out for a while and can be purchased 'used' ... think you'd quite enjoy it ...

Laryl,
Thank you very much for your comment on my "Ghost Lily". The original was a yellow lily which I desaturated in PS. I left it as an RGB file but I print it using black only ink.
You have a very impressive body of work in your gallery and I have marked it as a favorite so I can come back and check your new work.
Best regards,
Frank

I've lived in Yuma my whole life yet I was amazed at how many of the photos of local places struck me as "not Yuma". One picture surprised me when I finally realized it was right next door to my mother's work, though I've simply never noticed the details. I can't wait to get in the car and go driving around to find the beautiful blue eaves on the mystery house! Thanks for giving me a different perspective!
