This gallery contains images of birds seen during the week of February 14, 2010 in the Rio Grande valley of South Texas. 86 species were observed, 46 of which were new to our life list. Sites visited included the World Birding Center, Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, the Edinburg Scenic Wetland, Quinta Mazatlan and the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge. Stops were also made at the Estero Llano Grande State Park and the Old Hidalgo Pumphouse. Sites were also visited along the Central Texas Coast Wildlife Trail, the Kingsville Ranch and the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.
Fantastic Pictures - I grew up here, and although I loved being outside, until relatively recently,I did not have a clue about the diversity of birdlife which you represent so beautifully here. Did you try the Audubon Center in Weslaco (www.fronteraaudubon.org)? - They have a wonderful wetlands which attracts a nice variety of birds also. Happy Birding. Tamela Baker
