Mission Trail Ride
Getting the horses hitched after an overnight stop in a shopping center parking lot.
Part of the 4,000 riders heading to Houston for the opening of Rodeo season.
The trail rides celebrate the tradition of cattle drives. In winter months, cattlemen drove their
herds of longhorns to the green nutritious salt grasses along the Gulf of Mexico coast.
Accompanying them were cowboys and wagons that would pick up the calves when they got tired.
These riders left San Antonio, Texas on February 8th and will travel 235 miles.
