Snow in Summer

I don't know the proper name for this plant, but I've heard it called the wonderfully poetic name of 'Snow in Summer'.
Here, it has escaped from a garden and is growing along the shore.

I think the wild form is stitchwort, but please don't temp fate; I recall a year about 1950 when we had the heaviest snowfall of the winter bringing down power-lines etc and that was home counties
