The Norman noble woman was the only woman in Ireland to have overseen the building of a castle.
She allegedly promised her hand in marriage to the architect who designed it and subsequently threw him out a window when it was finished.
She later set up the Augustinian Priory of Grace Dieu in Belton in Leicestershire, where she lived out her days.
