This is dedicated gallery presenting my huge Zlin 526 model. Produced by Jamara, it has wingspan of 236 cm (95"), weights 7.5 kg (16.5 lbs). Powered by TowerPro 5330 brushless motor and 10 LiPo cells it was clocked at 135 km/h (84 mph)on the maiden flight. 2500W of power spinning 19x12" prop gives unlimited verticals thanks to 8 kg of static thrust.
During the maiden flight (on Friday 13th at 13.00 hours!) it delighted all the folks present with it's docile but capable flying. There were no battery cowl and trailing edge triangles present then (we've forgot them at home).
Second flight (not pictured here) was a disaster as the flimsy landing gear collapsed at takeoff.
Finally, flight Nr.3 was a TOTAL disaster when the plane suddenly sinked from the edge flight due to detached wire link from the rudder servo. I was aware of that weak spot (loose clevis) when building but forgot to replace it later during the building process.
During those two 10-minute flights Zlin grew so much on me that I decided to build it once again.
So, you'll find many new photos of this beautiful plane before winter.
Many thanks to my younger son Alan who shot most of those pics and gave me strong support when building and moaning after the crash.
November 21st 2007: UPDATE: Although this beautiful plane has being discontinued, my distributor Jamara Modeltechnik have just informed me they can still supply couple of Zlin's! Whooohoo! So the next week I'm starting to build another one.... This time it will take much less 'cause all the bits and pieces were saved. Stay tuned...
Hello!
I was searching google to find info for this Zlin and came up with your site,
on which i have to say it's beautiful!Sorry for your loss though of the Zlin.
Because a guy in my club sells his Zlin,
but personally i haven't seen it ever myself,
do you think there are any weak spots i should be aware of?
Also, ther retracts you installed where supplied with the ARF?
Where can i find the manual of the Zlin online?
