Spruce Grouse (Falcipennis canadensis)

A female spruce grouse crosses the road with head lowered in running position. This appears to be a 'red morph'.

VERY NICE GALLERIES AND ESPECIALLY THIS SHOT. I'VE NEVER SEEN AN ADULT SPRUCE THIS COLOUR AND I WONDER IF THIS IS A LARGE JUVENILE GIVEN THE REDDISH CAP AND OVERALL BUFFY PLUMAGE.
THAT BEING SAID THERE IS SOMETIMES A GREAT VARIETY IN GROUSE PLUMAGE AND I PHOTOGRAPHED A SHARPTAIL LAST YEAR IN WHICH THE SANDY BUFF WAS REPLACED ALMOST ENTIRELY WITH BLACK. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. PAT MARKLEVITZ
