Thanks for looking. 80% of birds were taken with tripod , 10% monopod, 7% bean bag or supported by solid object such as trees, rock etc, and about 3% handheld. Just a approximation.

These are great shots. I just got the same lens and am considering getting the 2x sigma. What are your thoughts re handheld vs tripod ? Are most of these tripod ? Thanks

That sigma combo looks real good, very nice pictures, i will be back for more keep it up. I really liked the kingfisher pictures thats one that im after for sure.

Very appricated for your comments.

The wasting rate vary a lot. E.g. for the sparrow, 0 % waste, but for the House martin in flight, I only get one OK out of thousand shots!.

Hi Kin

I have taken a long overdue (quick) look through the galleries.

The quality of your images is superb, I wonder what the 'wastage rate' is? The bird images especially are stunning - the Wren is one the most elusive UK birds there is, so very small and fast moving.

Were I in your shoes I would be looking to submit pictures to a picture library, at least that way the hobby could/would bring a contribution to the household bills.

Please do keep posting on the DPReview forum because it was your Bullfinch pics that reminded me to look here again!

Hi Steveen,
Thank you very much for correcting the name. I did think that it was a wren, but the tail looked too long from the view angle. Look at it again, totally agreed with you that it is a Wren.

It is really very active and fast moving.

Lovely shots of English birds. If you could zoom in a little more so that identifying markings could show up better. A lot of people would like to be able to identify the local birds and mammals that we see out of our windows. You have done a nice job. Thanks!
