This is a shot of the Marine Safety Center that is the headquarters for Lifeguard operations here in Encinitas. Today being a lifeguard is especially challenging and dangerous. You see in addition to the inherent danger of performing water rescues, the Guards now risk coming in close contact with individuals infected with Covid, becoming infected themselves and bringing the virus home to their families. My hat's off to these courageous women and men who keep us safe in the water.
