I had seen a bird on November 3rd, at Bogota WMA, late in the evening but only got brief looks as it flew off the ground and straight away at dusk. I returned on the 9th to again see this bird and with better looks at the upper wing pattern was pretty sure it was a Ferruginous.
The next morning, 11-10-2012, after a few hours, out of nowhere, the bird flew straight at me and banked away after seeing me. Mike Todd arrived and we enjoyed good scope looks as the bird kited over the area. We also photographed 4 dark Harlan's, 1 adult and 1 immature Krider's, a dark calurus and MANY Harrier Hawks over these fields.
