The sandbars on the Mississippi River regularly produce Piping Plovers between August 15 and September 15, year after year. Nancy Moore and I once had 6 in view at one time. These make 4 this weekend seen on Dacus Bar and Island 13.
Island 13 was built up a few years back after a year when the Mississippi just never went down. The lake sides are too steep and the water leaves too fast now due to elevation but it gets a little better each year. Maybe someday it will return to its glory as the finest migrant trap in West TN.
