Africa 1959-1966

My family lived in Lourenço Marques, Mozambique (now Maputo) for 7 years. Here I started taking photographs, initially with a Kodak Brownie-E 620, then with my father's Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 6x9 camera, and from 1965 with a Zorki-4.

Wonderful to see these photos.i sailed on a Lloyd Tristino boat on this same route but in 1964 with a small baby and a toddler.your photos brought back lots of memories.i did not have a camera until I bought one in Aden so have no real record of my trip.

Fascinating galleries. You were an excellent photographer from an early age, it seems. As a South African born in 1961, I find much to marvel at in your pictures of colonial southern Africa. I have no photos of my own from the period, having lost just about everything in the 25+ moves I've made in my life.
