An antique Tibetan tsakli painting, 19th Century or earlier, depicting within a peach/sunrise nimbus and green mandorla a white-bodied peaceful deity seated in padmasana on a lotus throne. The deity's left hand holds the stem of a full-blown lotus flower on which rests a pustaka- the holy book, his right hand in varada mudra, the gesture of granting wishes. His face is sweet and gentle beneath the 5 points of his crown, behind which his hair is tied in a high chignon topped by a gold cintimani. He wears heavy circular earrings and full bodhisattva ornaments, a blue celestial scarf and a multi coloured and multi layered dhoti. A single syllable in Tibetan text to the reverse. 9.2 x 10.8cm
