An antique, 19th Century tsakli painting depicting a 'mandala' centred around the red bodied tutelary deity the Buddha Kasyapa, his left hand in meditation mudra and his right hand in the shramana gesture of ascetic renunciation. He is seated on his lotus throne in yabyum with his Sakti, representing the union of Wisdom and Compassion. His hair is knotted in the Jatamukuta style behind a golden crown, wearing a long green celestial scarf which hangs down. In the 4 corners of the mandala sit offering gods and goddesses, each on his or her own lotus throne. An obscured Terma syllable to the reverse.10.2 x 12.9cm
