Airstream '68 Trade Wind

This is the 1968 airstream that is my new "camera bag" for the large format camera. Lots and lots of restoration in its future.....
March 2007: I purchased this 1968 Trade Wind model Airstream in August of 2005 from a couple up in Michigan. I spent my first night of ownership getting to know it on the shore of nearby Lake Huron. Since then I have taken it to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Great Smoky Mountains, Land Between the Lakes, and the Shawnee National Forest among other places. I love the Airstream and continue to restore and refurbish it as time passes. So far the axles, and refrigerator have been replaced. This spring it will get new flooring , a polish, re-plumbed, and an new awning if all goes to plan…..

The cracks have been there as long as I have had the coach (labor day 2005). There is no clear cause for the cracks. While they are not getting any larger, the plan is to weld them this spring. I will probally pull the belly pan off at that time just to make sure there are not other frame issues lurking under there.

Nice photos, Rodney. I'll have to ask you when you discovered the weld cracks and how you fixed them.

Perfect for a photographer. I have a friend who Photographs dog shows and is contemplating doing the same thing

Now this is the way to go. Sometimes photographers has to sit put for a few days waiting for the ideal light , especially for large format , and them motels can get somewhat pricey at times.
