Very nice gallery, Clayton. I read your technique and found it to be almost identical to what I use. Got to love Arizona and the opportunities to photograph lightning (especially from home). V.

Great looking lightnings. I have seen really many lightnings shots but these look d*mn nice =) I try to take lightnings photos when I can so feel free to visit on my gallery too =)

Robert, thanks for the constructive criticism. I’ve completed my clean up of most of the old pictures by running them through a noise filter and playing with “levels”. Most of the second rate pictures were taken with inexpensive point-and-shoot digital cameras and inexperience as a photographer. I got a better camera and got luckier and the best shots are on Page 1.

Some very nice shots, unfortunately accompanied by some mediocre shots (much noise/too bright/poor composition). I read your advise on shooting lightning; I'd like to add that if the lightning is far away you might consider playing with your aperture. If it's nearby, use the highest number, if it's further away the intensity will be a lot less so you can increase the opening. And never use autofocus; set it manually. Since you have a lot of photos of lightning, I would advise to get rid of the bad ones; first rule is to show your best, not to show all! (however I do understand your comment about the thrill when you get lucky!). But you'll see that the impact of this gallery will be much greater if you're left with only the good ones. I hope you do not take my advise the wrong way, because it not my intention to piss you off but to pussh you further. And ther are some real beauties in here! Regards, Robert

Lightning....you've done a magnificent work on those pics. You have thousands of these phenomenons that for some are interesting and for some scary! You defenitivly have my vote on this one
