Thanks a lot Ray for the comments regarding the cattle egret. Was looking over your recent photos and of course Maria caught my eye again. She is growing up so fast and such an adorable child she truly is. Take care :)

I stumbled onto your website while looking for tips on the use of a newly acquired Nikon 200 - 400 vr zoom lens. I think your work is absolutely outstanding. My wife Lili, and I have been keen birdwatchers in Israel for the past 15 years and I have taken a great many photographs with a telescope via an attachment to my Nikon D70 camera. The results don't even come close to what you are doing. I would appreciate contacting you again after using the new lens for a few months to get some objective criticsm. Regards, Herb

Raymond, Roger at Camtech recommended your site as a great place to see images of birds. Well, that was probably 2 years' ago and since then I visited your site daily and use one of your images as a background imaqe on my pcs both at home and at the office. I have learned to recognize birds especially chickadees and warblers from the images I kept front and centre. Thanks for making my introduction to birding so easy and for sharing your encyclopedic knowledge of birds with the rest of us. Now, if only I could find a good pair of used birding binoculars......

Hi Ray :) Thank you so much for the visit and the comments - I always look forward to what people have to say about my captures, most specially if it's coming from people that I know. Been looking at Maria's pictures and it is truly a delight to see her growing up and as cute as always. Hope to see you soon.

I just discovered your galleries tonight Raymond and was pleased to see a local lad. What an amazing set of images. This was a virtual visual overload for me and I have only seen about 10% of your images.
I use the Canon XTi and 100-400 LIS for bird shots, when I get the time. It's a very good piece of glass but slower than your Nikon I believe at F5.6 fully out.
I have several UK sites, being Scottish, but started a Canadian one two months ago. SAdly I have not had much time to add to it but please do visit the nature galleries at www.photosports.ca. I am a bird fan from my younger days in Ayrshire, I do enjoy it but business does not afford me much time to do it.

Thank you for an inspiring set of images.

Martin.

I also have the D200 & 200-400 vr combo with gitzo and wimberly. Luv the lens, but camera is too noisy above iso 400. I use continuous-servo in wide area mode with group dynamic(not closest), with focus lock off most of the time. Curious as to what setting u use. I have only had my lens about 4 months. Really nice gallery, am putting on my favorites list, especially the owls. Didn't mean to ramble, but since u have the same combo, I couldn't help myself.

Hi Ray,
please don`t take this the wrong way. I thought a while back you had some great photos, but now they are just sensational. I am still getting to grips with my 200-400afs.vr as I don`t get as much opportunity to use my camera as I would like. At least you are demonstrating what is achievable.
Best wishes to you and your family,
Cheers Tony.

Ray, love your work (as you know already). For the home page I think the owl in the snow on a post would be great and some nice classy text around it in say blue and silver on a dark background. I will send you a site I really like and I think the layout of the site I am sending is brilliant. Not sure whether to add it here as it is not my site.

Thanks
Rita (UK)

Hi Ray! Thanks for leaving a comment on my site. I really enjoyed your galleries! That one owl photo where he's sitting on the post, in the snow, is perfection. You asked where I shot the sandhill cranes in flight, I got them at Jasper and Paluski in Northern Indiana. I shot 8gbs in 2 hours. They sailed by at that range constantly. It was a blast!

Take care and keep up the good shooting!

First time on your site. Great photos. I live on a lake and have just purchased a camera and trying my "inexperienced hand" of getting some wildlife pictures. None, so far, as great as yours. I will bookmark this as one of my favorites. Great site!!

Thanks everyone, really appreciate you all stopping by., and you are welcome to visit often!

Photo Gal.. I designed the Home Page at www.rayswildlife.com/ and linked that page to the Galleries here.. PBase is the hosting site for the photos.. It's a great deal! 23 bucks for 12 months, unlimited bandwidth.. and 300 MB of storage.. in the 342 pics I have in here, I have only used 52 MB of storage.

I need advice on what to do with the home page, it needs something, I just don't know what.. any ideas?
