Richard, I was wondering if you could contact me, Ron Chinn, at 580-747-2803. I use your great wildflower site to ID many of the flowers I come across on my walks. I had never heard of Oakdale Township and was wandering where you found this great variety of wild flowers. In fact. I am visiting Polo Cemetery this morning. I also see where you have railroad pictures posted. I have worked for the railroad for over 40 years now. My email address is rrchinn@sbcglobal.net. Thanx, Ron

The unidentified pic DSCO7204 is Western Indigo not Goat's Rue. Goat's Rue is a bushy plant roughly 18 inches tall. Western Indigo is a low spreading plant, more vine-like. The blossoms of Goat's Rue may be pink or pink and yellow. The Western Indigo flower is a solid peach-colored pink.

The Camphor Weed you Photographed is likely to be a Coreopsis. They are endemic to Poteau area.

Richard, I've been given a Pentax KX by an older gentleman in my condo building. On the bottom of the camera are several "holes" that aren't shown in the manual. From left to right, a depression, and sort 0f like a "Y" in the depression. Then the battery housing. Then the tripod mount. Then I think the motor drive to rewind film ?, Then another screw out compartment, no battery, and no info either. Could you help enlighten me ?
Thanks in advance, Gord

Could you give more detail on photo # DSCO7204.jpg? It looks a lot like the trailing wildbean, only pink. I have a lot of these growing in my woods and would like to know what they are.
Thanks

Hi Richard, Love your wild flower pictures. I'm a student currently at the Oklahoma School of Photography and have been trying to find where is the best place to photograph Oklahoma wild flowers, especially Indian Paintbrush, Indian Blanket and Musk thistle. Would you mind giving me an idea of where you found the flowers in your beautiful photos. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again, your work is inspiring.

Hey Richard I didn't see in your collection the Asahi Pentax original 1957. I think it's called an AP by collectors, do you not have one because they're not collector's cameras and not worth anything? I was given one of these cameras and really don't know much about it.

Hi Uncle Richard! I wanted to check out all the photos to see if you had any new ones! They are great! Love, Andrea
David Peck 22-Nov-2005 23:32
Hi Uncle Richard! It's David Peck. Your photos are awesome, in the truest sense. The shots of Barney and Brittany brought me back to riding with Bridgette and Uncle Wayne in an old blue Ford pickup. I also appreciate the Allen posts. My brother, Brad, and I have named our first sons, Wesley Allen Peck (Brad's), and Nathan Allen Peck(mine) in honor of our beloved grandfather, Loyd. I'd Love to keep in touch! Keep up the great galleries!

Hi!
Liked your camera gallery - reminds me of almost forgotten times!
And your trains are amazing.

Hi Richard, really appreciate your interest in bird photography. I was especially attracted to the Bewick's wren as they are all but gone here in the east. I saw my first and last one in Bombay Hook WR, DE 1989. Thanks for jogging my memory.

Hi Richard - After you left a note in my guestbook, I thought I would drop by and look around. I'm not a railroad buff but I enjoyed those galleries. With the birds, I really like "Raindrops keep falling on my head". That poor Cardinal was having a rough day.

I had fun poking around your galleries. Love the rail galleries...they are amazing. Also, your flowers of Oklahoma are beautiful....and I enjoyed the birds tremendously! You have some species I have not seen out here (So. Ca.) so thanks so much for the tour!

Thank you for stopping by to look at my photos. I've enjoyed yours as well. I wish I could capture my bird feeder friends as well. And your railroad pics have inspired me to go down to the tracks!
Tom Grey20-Feb-2004 15:41
Hi Richard -- Thanks for the nice comment on my bird photos. I looked at yours, and really enjoyed them. The head portrait of the chickadee is smashing, and I was particularly envious to see the one with the bobwhite and the Harris' Sparrow in the same shot -- the latter bird I've never seen, and the former only once! Hi Richard,

I stumbled across your rail photos from over the years on pbase and was absolutely blown away by the quality of your photos, they were absolutely breathtaking. The composition is astounding, and the mood created by the photos is mesmorising. It looks like you have done much travelling in your time and taken many a photo! Are you a photographer by trade or is this just a part time hobby?

Another thing I would like to ask you is that the school I work for is having it's end of year celebration night, and we have an annual choir perform with a student run orchestra. Now, to add atmosphere to the night I was thinking, with your permission, of having a slide show in the background of the choir of some of your rail photos. These theme of the night is peace, and your shots would blend in perfectly with the theme. I understand if you don't want this to happen - it is just an idea I came up with while surfing through some pbase photos!

Keep up the great photos, I look forward to seeing more!

Hi Richard,

I saw the prints that you had posted on dpreview.com. They look amazing. i have just bought a sony dsc v1 a couple weeks ago. I am looking to improve my photography skills and get more involved. I was wondering if you could help me with using the camera. I'm trying to achieve a shot like many of yours, with the shallow depth of focus. i try having a low f number like 2.8 and yet nothing different happens. please help...what do u do? do u have an additional lens? Thanks! feel free to e-mail me.

Extra 3985 East is a very nice shot, any chance of obtaining large print of it from you?
