The aircraft was delivered to TWA with registration NC1944 on January 26th, 1941 and became fleet number 385. The aircraft was retired by TWA in 1950 with a total flight time of 34,259:27 hours with no accidents or incidents.

On November 3, 1950, NC1944 was sold to W.G. Spillman of Pacific Aircraft Sales Company of North Hollywood, California. On November 24, 1950 it was registered to Union Oil Company as N1944. N1944 was modified with an executive interior during 1951 and placed in service with flights to both North and South America.

On September 5, 1957 the registration number was changed to N760 at the request of Union Oil Company.

The last flight for N760 was on May 27th, 1982 and ended with a total of 47,665:35 flight hours with no accident or incident.

The aircraft was displayed for many years at the California State Museum of Science and Industry in Exposition Park in Los Angeles. It was moved from the Western Museum of Flight in Hawthorne, California to the LAX Flight Path Museum on September 29, 2006.
