Shindand

Shindand district is two hours south of Herat, an area then still a bit dangerous and often referred to as the "Wild West" (today in 2011 of course much more so), due to the many gunmen running around. Also home to a large airbase, formerly Soviet, now American.

Wow I love Afghanistan!
from 2009-20012 i work there in shindand as a millitry surgent it's really nice place and have brave people i was closed to shindand Airport which is the most famuse and great Airport in afghanistan

Shindand is a lovely area in west region and as from its name we can guess it is a green area and has lots of educated people in it than other Districts of Herat.but security concerns realy annoy the people of Shindand and caused the brains drain and other people to leave Shindand toword Herat city.

Shindand, great, I remeber it when me and my family were going to go for Hajj or pligramage in 1992. we went by Helicopter to Shindand, stayed around two days there and met some of the Jihadists' houses there, it was so fnatastic for me at the age of 7 to see there. then we put on Ehram cloths which is for Hajj and then took off from Shindand airport to Jeddeh. I have very beautiful memories of thos time.

For the time being the population of Shindand district is more than 500,000 people, but the mentioned number of population by this site is not realistic and I don't based on which information you claimed this number of population for Shidand district.
