I just sawy your photo from the Bottle Tree Ranch on ScenicUSA - wonderful shot! Reminds me of a semi-ghost town in Nevada called Tuscarora...and after perusing some of your amazing images I thought Tuscarora might be a place right up your alley!
Thanks for sharing and Happy Shooting! Paula

Thank you Scott for the patience and artistic eye that you have in capturing so many of these amazing shots. Many of the ones from Vermilion bring back such wonderful memories of my 16 years of growing up there. As many have asked before... Do you sell your work? I'd love to have some notecards with some of these shots or even 3 or 4 of the pics that I could print on canvas. Have you thought of using a site like zazzle.com to set up a few designs and let them handle the production and shipping? It might be a great option if you don't want to hassle with the logistic. I think it would be worth your while. Please let me know if you have any products available.

I have not only enjoyed viewing your pictures over and over but now I have enjoyed reading how much others truly love your pictures too. I noticed several have wanted to purchase or use your pictures and I think you are losing out big time but not sharing these with the world so they can hang them on the wall. Of course, my favorite is Michele's Rose (wonder why) but honestly, I would love to hang every single one of these in my home... I can see the wall now. Such talent... When is your exhibit going to be in Nashville?

Hello Scott,

I noted that you have great pictures taken with Digital SLR such as Canon D60, and Sony R1.

I am an user of a SONY F828. I am planning to purchase a Sony R1 or a Nikon D200, or D50?

Based on your experience with digital SLR and Sony unique design, what do you suggest that I buy?

Should I keep my Sony F828 because quality of images is similar to R1?

Thanks

I have read lots of digital photographs in different places. Through the help of technology, many can produce eye catching photo but only very limited of them can fully exploit the characteristics of digital camera and handle post software processing well. You are one of those masters who can produce photos reaching film like commercial grade. In terms of colour, composition, depth and sharpness, it is difficult for me notice vestige of post processing. I can see you control well in taking stage and software processing stage. Very impressed pictures! Very well done!

Thanks for sharing.

Scott,

I stumbled upon your Favorites gallery and am very impressed. I read a lot of forum about the pro and cons of digital cameras. Now I know that that's useless. You pictures even with not so expensive equipment are so impressive. Congratulations.

Hi Scott,

by chance (actually by typing Digilux 2 into "google") I got aquainted with your galleries. I was especially impressed by your excellent pictures taken with the Leica Digilux 2 on your road trip 04 from Nevada to New Hampshire. I had already an eye on this camera for quite a while and your gallery eased my decision to buy one a day later.

Scott -

I am a new photographer and I absolutely love taking pictures. I have a Canon EOS Elan SLR which I never touch. I also have my own G3 which is never out of reach. There are few captures in my gallery that I was reletively happy with...Until now that is. Your images are simply beautiful. I wish I could pull the vibrant clarity out of my camera that you have with yours. I will be watching your gallery closely. Thanks for the inspiration.

Scott,
Your work is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Love your composition and exposure, especially the Las Vegas pictures. My wife and I love that place.

By the way, how do you manage to get sharp focus, foreground to background, on your Leica Digilux 2? Do you use manual, infinity focus on the Leica?

I'm looking into getting a Digilux 2 or Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1. The cheaper price of the Lumix is pulling me in. Can I get your thoughts on these two cameras?

Thanks a bunch and keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Joel

hey Scott,
Your photography is just gorgeous! I love all the unique angles you use to truly capture the moment. You also have a lot of variety as far as the kinds of pictures you take.
Ganny 28-Jun-2004 03:53
Dear Scott,
I've been looking at your beautiful, breathtaking and artistic photography. Do you share any of your secrets for the color you get in your photos, such as do you use a filter that helps with the saturated color, and are you able to print these pictures straight from the camera with them looking like this, or do you have to do post-processing? Being a perfectionist, and also artistic, I'm so frustrated with the post-processing that I have to do with my Sony F707 and have been looking at the latest Leica D2 with the hopes of getting beautiful color straight from the camera. Your pictures, though, have a distinctive artistic quality which speaks of your obvious gift in photography, regardless of the camera, but are you having to use an imaging program to put the 'icing' on what you've already taken? Sorry for the length, but I am so frustrated. Any help would be deeply appreciated. PS. Also, with all the cameras that you've used, which one was the most satisfying camera to you? Thanks so much...Ganny

Dear Scott,

I have posted this same message on one of your individual photos (not so familiar with the layout of pBase). Nevertheless, I have an event scheduled aboard the USS Massachusetts this Saturday (http://www.battleshipcove.org/index.htm ) which will bring a few hundred people together to participate in a short local dedication ceremony and then we will simulcast the D.C. dedication ceremony.

I want to provide some images of the monument for people to view both before and after the ceremony and I found your beautiful work on the internet.

May I have your permission to display the WWII Memorial images that day? I will post appropriate credit. Also, any chance I can get a higher resolution set? The pBase images work fairly well but come out pixelated by the time I print them at an 8x10 size appropriate for older eyes.

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Many thanks,

Dear Scott,

Can not find proper words to express all my delight and admiration.
All your photos are not just "nice" and "beautiful" like the others say, they are real masterpieces! And there no many people in the world who can catch things and colours like you do. This is a professionalism of the highest standards.
Thank you so much for such breathtaking views.
I'm new to the digital photography and trying to choose a good camera for myself; that's why i had searched through the hundreds of web-sites and found your gallery.
Thank you again and God bless you!

Hi Scott, I just love your pictures of Harrisville, NH. I spent all my summer weekends at my grandfathers cottage on Harrisville, Lake. We were able to see the white church from my grandfathers cottage and hear the chimes at night. I have many fond memories( I"m 56 now) . Do you have photos of the church and other buildings or the cemetary. My relatives on my grandfathers side of the family worked at the mills and some relative ran the post office. Your photography is spectacular and I just love all the New Hamshire scenes!! My husbands father grew up in Winchester, NH . Thankyou for bringing me back in time!!Pat Eddy, of Reading, Mass .

On the Canon G3 forum you had said you used C1 a lot at f4 and manual focus at infinity. Are most of your distant landscape photos herein taken in that fashion (setting)? Also, do you do much touch up work on the photos?

I would appreciate a reply. Great pictures.

Hi Scott: Saw your message at dpreview ("can't put up but can't shut up either") and I clicked onto your link. WOW!

I don't have any "L" glass but I've been having a lot of fun shooting without it. I am planning to get the 16-35 L only because I heard it's better than the Sigma and more for the range than the "L" (I like using the superwides), so I won't think of myself as a "better" photographer or higher up on the "pecking order". I love photography for its own sake no matter which camera I have in hand at the moment. – Tom

Wonderful photos/composition. Am I correct that these are seen through the lens of a Sony 717?

Thanks
Al Palmer 05-Feb-2003 02:59
Scott:

First, I am very impressed by your collection of photographs of a number of locations in New Hampshire. My parents lived in Brookline, NH for many years before they passed away some years ago. Could you tell me from where you took the pictures in Brookline? One of the scenes in Brookline looks extremely familiar. It reminds me of a view from along an old railroad right-of-way overlooking a marsh. My father and I used to try and get an occasional glimpse of nesting blue herons. My parents lived on the west side of Route 13 on the land behind an antique shop just north of Route 130. The house has since burned down and the site has probably been rebuilt.

I have been looking at the Sony 717 and trying to compare everything of similar price to it. The Sony seems to come out on top most frequently.

I hope you don't consider this note a nuisance.
