VII

The Seventh Corps was activated on November 25th, 1940,
with Headquarters at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and had three
changes of station and participated in three major maneuvers
before embarking for the European Theater in October of 1943.

Following a short period of occupation duty, the Seventh returned to
the United States in July of 1945 and was inactivated in March of 1946
at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. The second design shoulder
patch worn by the VII Corps was approved on April 28th, 1944, based on
a design submitted from England by the Corps Headquarters to the War
Department. The blue and white Roman numerals "VII" along with the
seven-pointed red star represent the unit's designation
