Lake Chapala has maintained a healthy water level for over a year now after experiencing low levels in years past. The weather this May continues to be mild with daytime highs in the mid 80s. Humidity is very low and gentle breezes make evenings nearly perfect. Air quality is generally good except for some smoke from an occational brush fire. The north shore of Lake Chapala is a popular retirement location for foreigners and among Mexican nationals visiting the area on weekends to enjoy the scenery and escape the hustle and bustle of Guadalajara, located an hours drive to the north.
Flowers are in bloom much of the year. These are located on the north shore in San Juan Cosala just a few miles west of the city of Chapala.
