Sydney, the Cygnet

This gallery is in memory of Sydney, the little cygnet.
He was such a precious little guy, so handsome, such good attitude.
A motor boater decided to use him as target practice on August 6, 2005.
His little life was cut short, and his parents are devastated, as am I.
This breaks my heart.

I buried him on the island, next to the nest where he was born. Sydney, I miss you.

regarding post by HEIDI KNUTSON, Heidi was never given permission to use my photograph because she would not answer my questions of where the painting would be sold, how much, and would I get credit. She never pursued. She stole the image, painted it and put it on her website with a price of $900. You can read all about this in the first folder on the main page called HEIDI KNUTSON THE ART THIEF. She has freely admitted to taking it without permission and knowing that was wrong, and that the image was copyrighted therefore my ability to call her a thief is not in question.

Sandi, Beautiful site and so sad. I agree with Dirk that people who kill any animals for their thrills are crazy. No respect. It is wonderful that you took time out to give respect for him, when he lost his life is a gift to him.

Sandra, I'm jaleous. I photographed swans during almost two years and I dreamed about backriding images and now I see them in this gallery, they are so wonderful, so beautiful. I could get some recently but not near to yours because the light wasn't cooperating and the cygnet was almost hidden all the time. A big bravo for your series here, they are a real joy for my eye. And I hate people who are killing animals, just unbelievable that someone could kill such a sweet creature just for pleasure. Disgusting.

Beautiful pictures, and such a sad story. I know how one can get attached to the cute little guys. I got to watch a family of foxes for about 3 weeks and when the mother took them away from the den, I really missed them. Your gallery is a wonderful tribute. Thanks for sharing Sydney's story. I will never understand why some people feel the need to destroy... Thank you for sharing Sydney with the rest of us -- your images are excellent, and he and his parents are beautiful. I hope that motor boater will one day learn to appreciate and protect the wonders of nature that he cannot create.
